Steve
Welcome! My name is Steve Johnson and in addition to my preaching, I write and edit.
"WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AS A WRITER?"
I've written dozens of articles, columns, stories, and press releases. Among the publications and organizations I've written for are: Focus on the Family's Thriving Family; Good News; Pathway; Advanced Christian Writer; Christian Communicator; LIVING; River Region's Journey; The Lexington Dispatch-News; the Tri-Town Transcript; The State newspaper; The Gamecock; and the Capital City Bombers (then the Class "A" affiliate of the New York Mets).
I gained much of my experience working in the following roles: as Section Managing Editor of The Gaston-Swansea Extra; Media Relations Director for the Capital City Bombers; News Editor for The Chieftain Chronicle; Special Correspondent for The State; and Sports Editor for The Gamecock.
"WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?"
I have a B.A. in Political Science from the University of South Carolina and a M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I'm currently enrolled with the American Writers & Artists Inc. (AWAI) in their Secrets of Writing for the Christian Market program.
I was one of 33 participants invited by Dr. Mark Dever (Senior Pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church) to a Seminar/Discussion (on March 30, 1999 at CHBC) designed to expand Nine Marks of a Healthy Church from booklet to book form prior to publication by Crossway Books. (Other participants included: Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals president Ligon Duncan; Wheaton College president Phil Ryken; Beeson Divinity School president Timothy George; First Baptist Church of Durham pastor Andrew Davis; and Third Avenue Baptist Church pastor Greg Gilbert.)
I am presently a member of: American Writers & Artists, The Christian Writers View, and Shenandoah Christian Writers.
"WHAT KIND OF ASSIGNMENTS DO YOU HANDLE?"
I cover the spectrum. My writing is suitable for your online and offline needs. I have experience writing: sermons, editorial columns, devotional meditations, and feature articles.
My published columns have covered topics as varied as culture and religion to lighthearted looks at sports and personal experience.
While I continue to expand my writing skills and areas of expertise, I have a particular interest in writing on: the Spiritual disciplines; Biblical devotions; parenting; and humor.
My editorial background makes me suitable for professionally editing written materials of varying lengths. Add to that my years of writing on a variety of subjects, I may be the ideal partner to ghostwrite your book.
"HOW DO I HIRE YOU?"
Putting me to work for you is easy. First, just tell me the nature of the assignment and who you intend to reach with it. Send me whatever literature or information will give me the background I need to most effectively engage your intended readers. Use my online form on the "Contact Steve" page (click on the "Contact Steve" tab in the upper left column).
P.S. If you have an immediate need for a writer, e-mail the details to Steve@StevePierceJohnson.com
There is no charge to discuss your job with you and give you a cost estimate.
"WHAT HAPPENS IF WE WANT TO REVISE IT?"
Just tell me what you want improved and what the changes are, and I'll make them--fast. There is NO CHARGE for rewriting. Revisions are included in the flat fee we've agreed to for the assignment, provided they are assigned within 30 days of your receipt of my finished work and are not based on a change in the assignment made after my finished work has been submitted. If you are not 100% satisfied with my writing, I will revise it according to your specific guidelines... and at my expense.
